Lower Area of the Town of Vítkovice is an industrial complex which had seen streams of iron flowing from its blast furnaces for 150 years.
The Steel Town. After the Velvet Revolution the operations were being reduced till the last tap in 1998. The complex aspires to be included in the UNESCO List.
An extensive structural analysis was carried out; part of the complex was renovated and is used now as a cultural centre and a tourist attraction. A number of workshops was completely demolished or will be permanently covered by glass shield in the future.
