Pre-election campaigns on the squares in Czech towns are a tragicomic circus of social relations as well as extraordinary shows that mirror the society. Before the Parliament elections in 2009 Social Democratic Party was handing out roses and scarfs, beer that cost 2 CZK and sausages for 5 CZK. As in the good old days! Bribing of the electorate reached its peak in the sweaty jostling for cheap sausages ending with a clash of generations and classes in one of Prague districts.  In that clash the Social Democratic Party chairman Jiří Paroubek was received among martyrs after he had been attacked with eggs.
